Craig Short is just a humble redhead from Albuquerque, New Mexico who’s very excited for the opportunity to have a desk job that involves a maximum of composing string parts and a minimum of financial spreadsheets. Craig is a third-year student at Northeastern University, where he studies music industry (AKA a music degree but with some chance of employment at the end of it) and is with MYRO for six months as part of Northeastern’s experiential learning program.

His main instrument is the piano, which he’s played for almost 14 years now, but he has dabbled in bass guitar, clarinet, drums, accordion, and washboard. He also makes electronic music, engineers recording sessions with Northeastern’s Green Line Records, and writes indie rock songs. Somehow he never got around to actually learning a string instrument, but he’s incredibly happy to be composing for strings and helping the orchestra live its best life. He looks forward to a wonderful 2018-2019 season full of productive rehearsals and jaw-dropping performances.
